My client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Principal Housing Officer. You will be familiar with all aspects of Housing and Homeless legislations and experience of line managing staff.

Principal Accountability;

To assist the Housing Manager in the day to day management of  Housing Services by providing a range of services to the Council and its customers.

Duties;

To assist in the development and continuous improvement of Housing Services by being flexible to change, ensuring the effective management of a small generic Housing Team consisting of Area Housing Officers, Lettings, Housing Assistants, a Homeless Case Worker, Housing Options Advisor and Resident Warden ensuring compliance with the Authorities statutory Homeless duties by working with the latest legislation and guidance.

To ensure that estates/villages are regularly inspected and the appropriate action is taken where needs are identified (e.g. abandoned vehicles, repairs, cleaning, litter, graffiti, landscaping works)

To liaise with and support local tenant and resident organisations and attend evening meetings where appropriate.

Ensure the proper investigation and resolution of enquires and complaints in respect of Council tenancies, and where necessary the enforcement of the Council's tenancy agreement, often in close liaison with the Community Safety Partnership team, Police, Environmental Health and other agencies for e.g. mediation service.

Essential Requirements;

Enhanced CRB and access to transport.
The postholder should hold or be pursing a relevant professional qualification.
Minimum of 3 years experience working in social housing
Good knowledge of Tenancy law and best practice in relation to tenany managment
Experience of working with Homeless Act 2002 (part 7 of the housing act 1996)
Managerial experience
