- A working knowledge of Child Protection procedures, good practice especially in relation to children with disabilities and their families. 
- Detailed and in-depth understanding of the Children Act 1989 and knowledge of the law relating to children and families, in particular to looked after children and Child Protection Procedures.
- Knowledge and understanding of theoretical models of child development, family dynamics and risk situations in analysing information. 
- Knowledge and understanding of FGC principles that underpin the model. Knowledge of role of Independent Co-ordinator. 
- Knowledge of FGC process in relation to Child Protection Procedures.

7) Prepare applications for submission to Family Courts and represent the County Council's Children &amp;amp; Families Service as and when required in Court in accordance with the County Council's procedures to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.

8) In liaison with the Senior Practitioner, operate across a variety of Children &amp;amp; Families teams to gain a diverse level of knowledge and experience that meets the appropriate practice competency level and a high standard of service delivery.

- To assess and monitor Private Fostering arrangements in line with national guidance and departmental policy. 
- To provide written reports for and attend Family Group Conference, undertake viability assessments of identified potential carers and present to Fostering Panel.
- To conduct assessments of prospective Special Guardians of children all ready known to the Family Support Team jointly with the Adoption Team.
- To implement care plans, including arrangements for funding and ensuring that the cost of provision remains within agreed budgets.
- To monitor and review the implementation of care plans and to provide continuing advice, support and social work services to children, young people, their families and their carers.
- Where the child is looked after by the local authority, to ensure the review and supervision of care arrangements in accordance with statutory regulation and to produce written reports and other documentation for this purpose.
- To ensure all statutory timescales in respect of child protection and look after children visits are completed within timescales and entered onto Richmond's ICS system.   
- To ensure written reports for child protection conferences are completed and made available to families and the independent chair in line with Pan London Child Protection Procedures.
- To provide written reports for, and represent the local authority in, the Family Proceedings  Court and any other court within the Family Division as required.

The successful Qualified Social Worker will be GSCC registered, have a current CRB and 2 years post qualification experience.
